NEW COWORKING FACILITY TO ENHANCE COMMUNITY, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

WARROAD, Minn. – Jan. 18, 2017 – In order to build upon the community’s strengths, a brand new kind of workspace is opening in Warroad: the Discovery and Development Hub (DD Hub). The Discovery and Development Hub is a coworking space designed to foster collaboration and innovation for community, business and economic development opportunities that will enrich the vitality of the Warroad area. Not only will the Discovery and Development Hub serve as a resource for the citizens and visitors of today, but also for the next generation—a modern and forward-thinking resource to ensure that Warroad is a vibrant, healthy and fun place to live and visit for future generations.

The new coworking space is located at Lake Street Center in downtown Warroad and includes three private offices, a conference room space and video conferencing, as well as table-top workspaces and “conversation corners.” The Discovery and Development Hub will also be home to the Marvin Community Development Office, the Warroad Area Chamber of Commerce and the Warroad Convention and Visitors Bureau. Collaboration and partnerships among these entities, as well as other community groups, are vital to maintaining a strong employment base, thriving tourism and a small business district that understands the importance of offering services and products that are right for its citizens and tourists.

“The Warroad community is filled with entrepreneurial spirit, resourcefulness and creativity. The new Discovery and Development Hub is a place for people with a passion for our community to incubate ideas, network with peers and mentors, and find more unique ways to make Warroad a desirable destination to live, work and play,” said Brenda Baumann, senior manager of community development for Marvin Windows and Doors. “I am eager to see how our community comes together to use this innovative space.”

Community leadership across Warroad recognizes the opportunity this new resource affords them. “The programs and initiatives currently offered through the City and the Warroad Port Authority will complement the community and economic development opportunities fostered by the Discovery and Development Hub. This is sure to be a wonderful resource for the community,” said City Administrator, Kathy Lovelace.

Warroad Area Chamber of Commerce President, Steve Hagen, noted the benefit for area businesses, “I’m most excited for the opportunity now available to the small business community in Warroad to collaborate to nurture and grow their businesses.”

The Warroad community is welcomed and invited to use the coworking space (private offices, conference room space and video conferencing) by reservation, while the table-top workspaces and conversation corners will be open on a first come, first served basis. A coffee bar and access to printing, scanning and copying are also available for those who use the space.

The cost for using the Discovery and Development Hub workspaces will begin with a suggested donation to the Warroad Area Community Endowment Fund, with membership rates to be considered as demand and usage grows.
